What are the differences between the Latitude versus Insperion Dell note books ? I am trying to decide between a Latitude D810 and a "comparable" Insperion ..( Sonoma 2.o ghz, 512mb mem , usb / fire wire ports 2nd battery )

Having owned a Latitude (still have it) - I believe the biggest difference is they are more suited for corperate use. The components are not "bleeding edge" , and hardware is generally more accepted and tested in a buisness envrionemnt. These machines generally more 'compatible' with the corperate world.
I am not so sure that still applies - but I believe when I bought mine (about 4 years ago) that is how they were marketed. -
in general the Latitude is slightly better built as well, the standard warranty is for 3-years I believe too.

From Dell's website:
"Latitude vs. InspironTM
Dell offers notebook systems that meet a wide range of needs. Dell Inspiron notebooks are ideal for individuals and home users who demand fast performance and the latest technology at an aggressive price, without the need for long product lifecycles and managed transitions."
--------
Ordered:
Inspiron 6000d
PM 750(1.86GHz)
15.4" WSXGA+
1 GB RAM
128MB ATI X300
60GB 7,200 RPM
DVD burner
Bluetooth...yada yada -
The lats have a proper port replicator as an option. The inspiron 6000 does not. Lats also have dual pointing devices.
