How many Latitude owners are actually personal users? As is, the notebook is mostly for personal use, whether or not it was ordered through your company.

I just tried to order a D630 over the phone. They asked if it was for business or personal. I said personal (just being honest), and they transferred me over to Dell Home... but they don't sell Latitudes.

I'm just going to say business the next time, but it just got me thinking.

I don't know why you would need to order it through work. I bought one for my wife through the website for personal use.

I just ordered my D830 yesterday. My sales lady asked me the same question but I told her it was for school related thing (homework and such). She also asked me if I will be using it for business. I told her no, it was a requirement for my college and i will just doing my school work on it. She asked me these questions after the laptop was already ordered though (I had already received the confirmation e-mail saying it was processed).

I figured it was because I was buying it with my schools EPP discount and they just want to make sure it would be used for school related things and not anything else. M$ and other software makers that sell their software discounted for students/faculty do the same thing. If you read the agreement it says you can't use it to make a profit or in a business setting and about 10,000 other things lol. :)

My D630 was purchased through my biz, for my biz, but I don't see why someone wouldn't (or couldn't) buy one for personal use.
