Is it possible to leave the light on, for those glowing quickkeys at the top of the keyboard?

I find it hard to locate them quickly (e.g. mute, or eject), even in a brightly lit room. The dark grey icons are hard to see depending on lighting/angle/glare, etc. When I press them, they light up very nicely and I can see them very well.

Can it be made so those key lights stay on, or partially dim, all the time?

The gorgeous fade effect is cool, but I am constantly having to make sure I'm pressing the right button, because it's hard to see them!!!

If you're talking about the Studio 15: no you cannot. This sensible idea has been proposed on Dell's IdeaStorm website, but to no avail.

Sorry, talking about Stuio 17 (1737). I assume they're similar, the hotkeys.

What I have in mind, as a fix... put some stickers above the keys to help me easy recognize them at a glance.

The Studio 17 and 15 have the same touch-panel technology...there's no way to set them to stay on. The new Studio XPS models have it much nicer...they're on at half-brightness by default, and light all the way up when pressed.

A while ago, my Studio 1535 had a bit of a glitch that accidentally resulted in the buttons staying lit...during boot, it was really slow and froze at one point. I hit a few keys to see if anything would work, and pressed all the media buttons. Well, eventually the boot continued as usual, but the buttons all stayed lit! And when I got into Windows, they still stayed lit, but functioned when I pressed them. It was really cool. I wonder if there's some way to force it to do that every time.

I posted a thread about it here a few weeks back.
