Battery will stop charging once it hits 100%.

Well leaving it plugged in all the time without discharging the battery will lower the life-span. I drain my battery to about 40% every week, just to avoid that.
I just leave my computer idle for a couple of hours when I am not using it and that should do it. -
You don't have to worry about draining the battery. The battery life-span will not get lowered -

it's actually a bad idea to do it with the new batteries because there's a built in lifespan of charges/recharges. that means if you keep draining/recharging, you will actually lower the lifespan of your battery.
batteryuniversity.com has some good info. -
There is some information in the owner's manual about it. -

I leave my laptop plugged in 98% of the time...I haven't noticed any battery life degradation. Of course I have a Sager so my battery is more of a 30 min UPS LOL.

Old NICKEL batteries needed "Conditioning" where you drain it and charge it up. Thats how you kept max life.
Li-Ion is what we use today, It has charge cycles that determines its life. Li-Ion LOVES to be Topped off ALWAYS. Draining it some only to recharge it, takes away from its lifes max cycle and thus shortening its life.
So yea.. those who grew up with older ways, find habits hard to break, but Li-Ion on cell phones, laptops etc, love to be on AC 24/7 =)
