Regarding the M1330 ... Just how bad is this LED shortage anyway??? I am hearing countries like Japan cannot order it with the LED and this happened to me today.

After lunch I noticed they had cancelled my main order (not to worry) and they told me it was because of the 30 day lead time with respect to LED shortages.

So I go to order it again and online ordering in India says there are no more LEDS. In fact, they say they are in the middle of kicking back about 100 orders because the LED's are not available... Apparently, they were making the calls as we spoke.

    Whats up with that????

Not to worry about me because I still have the other system and mine was reordered and put into production immediately.... with the 5589 slim and light LCD.

Have others experienced anything like this??? I have had this laptop kicked back for a total of 10 order numbers now. I will state that I have been upgraded handsomely and the price reduced significantly again but...I just want Purolator at my door.

I was told today that they are actually re-resting the LED screens and once they are done they will continue production of the M1330... Whatever that means. I don't know what to believe anymore.

I hope it works for ya...my system was ordered on the 5th and they just cancelled because of the lead time without notifying me. Once again i had to fight for the discount I originally got.

The odd part is...they have tried almost a dozen times now but could not get the system to accept the LED (Skew 5583) with this order. Thats why for the most part it keeps getting cancelled.

They said today it got kicked out of production with the Slim/Light LED (sku 5589) and dont understand why yet.

are you placing the order online or through the phone with a rep? people have been ordering the LED backlight screens after the 5th without a problem. i ordered a t7500 system with LED online yesterday and got the confirmation 10 minutes later with 320-5583 as the screen SKU.

I ordered on line. I have to as thats where the coupon had to be used. Was yours online??

The 5th is believable as I was told the first load of laptops ships to Canada at the end of July. They go to Pickering for Ontario. They expect the system to be on that and possibly the exchange system to be sooner

Touche...could have omitted that although it has shown to be accurate. Deleted and you could prob edit and delete that statement as a favour. There was no intent of any kind...

Whaaa? They canceled your order without informing you?

I ordered mine on the 4th of July and so far, it hasn't given me any trouble. And yeah, I got the 320-5583 LED panel one my first try. Is there actually a difference between than the the 5589 anyways?

Well they told me it was kicked back because of this. The people in OnLine sales were trying to tell me the laptop was no longer available in LED and that it (5583) was an old number. I get so upset when people try to snow you with pure bs.

I have been trying to get my online order changed to a phone order in Can but thats apparently imposs to do so...for now I am stuck with 5589 in my one system (remember 10 order #s for this onee); my other has 5583.

Dell canceled my order without notifying me either. An email and a a phone rep said it was because of 'lead time'. The phone rep said the LED screen was on back order... that's all i was able to get from her. See my sig for more details.

I didn't understand the India reference.. Did they mean that they are canceling orders over here? I hope not.. Although my shipping still says 20th July...
Or was it that the LED no longer is available as an option in the Asia pacific site? Because it still is...

Dell Canada online (in India) stated that there was no more LED availability via that route.

From sources in Ireland im led to belive the delay on all M1330's everywhere is a worldwide shortage on screen panels/glass. This applies to LCD & LED.

If it's the glass, why aren't other notebooks facing the same delay? Or do you mean 13.3" LCDs? I haven't heard anything out of Apple.

Nope. I was still in pre-production, but shoot, i was expecting 'build' any day now... or then.

My sales rep mentioned something like that; her English wasn't to well (plus i figured she was clueless) so i thought she meant that the led was on back order. But she mentioned something along the lines of " glass/screen/lcd" being on back order. ... i guess that can really mean anything.

Maybe they mean that there's a worldwide shortage for Dell??? Would make more sense... I think.
