Left touchpad button seems . . . squashed

Greetings. Though my left-click still functions on my Dell Inspiron E1405, it's now . . . flattened a bit. In other words, when I clicked, the buttoned sort of stayed down, not fully returning to its original position. It's visibly "lower" than the right-click button. However, it still functions.

Is it possible to pry the button up to see what's happening underneath?

    Thanks!

Sounds like the spring or whatever returns the button to its original unclicked position is compressed.

Are the buttons easily removed? The keyboard keys will pop right off, but I'm not so sure about the touchpad buttons.

I've never actually tried it. I think you'll probably have to remove the palmrest, though.

bummer jackypaper. if you can't fix the touchpad button yourself, you may have to ship the e1405 laptop to a local computer repair shop and let the pros fix it (for a price).
