So I've had my brand-new Dell Inspiron 1501 for a little over a month, and only occasionally used the touch-pad mouse, usually using my Logitech MX518 USB mouse instead, however today, I had tried using my touch-pad mouse and the left-click would only respond occasionally, sometimes it just wouldn't do a damn thing! I do frequently clean the chassis of my case with a glass polisher, and am now worried I got some inside the case and it's ****ing around with the left-click button, can anyone make any suggestions on what I can do? I am not %100 positive that is the problem at all, but I might aswell try cleaning it out before I send it back to Dell. Thanks a bunch!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Well, I think the answer to this problem is simply to take off the palmrest/touchpad assembly and see if there's anything stuck there. There's plenty of documentation on how to do this on the Dell support site.

Dell™ Inspiron™ 1501 Service Manual
BTW, don’t use strong detergents to clean your notebook, especially the LCD. Some Glass cleaners have chemicals like ammonia which may damage/wear off the paint on your notebook. If you really need to use a cleaning liquid, then only use certified electronic/computer cleaning solutions. I only use a soft cloth (sometimes with a bit of water), for me that does the trick.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Mine stopped working all together and I clean my 1501 with a damp not wet cloth. Must be a design flaw. I am going to be sending mine back for repair.
So I don't think it has anything to do with moisture. Laptops should be able to handle small amounts of moisture.
