lets boycott XPS M1530
those dell bastards!
how do they expect XPS M1530 to be best seller like 1330 if they only offer 1280x800 and no LED?
A BOYCOTT WILL MAYBE FORCE THEM TO QUICKLY STOCK UP THE HIGHER RES AND LED SCREENS
besides if the desperados order now, it will still get to them around xmas or later
boycott = no sales, hence force dell to rethink their money making skim
its always about the money
FELLOWS LETS BOYCOTT
-
Don't like it - don't buy it.
Like it - buy it.
I'm pretty sure that's how the market works, even without "boycotts". -
Great thread. Very informative - NOT!
Agree totally with lithus in this one. Take your money over to Sony or Asus and stop posting useless threads
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am sure this forum and all it's memebers make up 0.0000001% of Dell's customer base. Even if we all didn't buy it there are millions of others who would.... -
I have no problem with a little junk in the trunk, for the record.
-
P.S. However, I agree that the monitor sucks.
-
yes this will clearly show dell what's up.
-
I think you still miss the point.
Here's how the market works: Dell releases a product and -
1. It's good then people buy it.
2. It's bad then people don't buy it.
It regulates itself, you don't need to start artificial boycotts. These are consumers, not union members. -
-
surefire, you and your gangster talk lost all creditability, you just made a moron of yourself. You think you understand so much about how the market works, but really don't.
Honestly, if it was as easy as making a stupid phone call and ordering a batch of generic laptop screens; don't you think Dell would do it you ****ing idiot?
Theres no grand prize for ignorance - but if there was you'd surely would have gotten the blue ribbon, with that display.
It's good they are taking things slow, would you prefer another screen fiasco (like what happen with the 1520)? Man wouldn't you love it, buying a computer then getting a grainy screen. You'd still be *****ing then wouldn't you?
Theres no pleasing morons like you.
Lithus, thank you for putting it in very simple to understand words, hopefully our half witted ignorant friend here can get it through his thick gangster head.
surefire, don't you got some drive-bye's to do or something? -

Dell can offer you a latte colored bag. Close enough.

B2TheEYo:
Thanks for the support, but that's unnecessarily aggressive. I am very offended by your use of stars.
Edit: Apparently foam is a game and some headphones... http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?s=gen&c=us&l=en&cs=&k=foam&cat=all -
Isn't this kind of silly? Presumably the point of this "boycott" would be to force Dell to offer a higher res screen, right?
But hasn't Dell already said they will be offering higher res's in 2008; it's just the the 1280x800 res is the only thing currently available?
So honestly, what's point? It's obvious that the XPSM1530 will be available with more screen options in the future. -
-
-
Oh, and the bag is close enough. -
Just frustrating - people need to learn to get facts before they start these pointless rants. I think I've seen about 6 or so threads just on this topic. "Screw Dell because they don't offer my preference this very moment." - I bet these are the people that go into grocery stores and scream and throw fits because they don't carry their favorite brand of cookies or biscuits. -
Yeah, I know where you're coming from, and I've seen enough of that in life too, but I just shrug it off and make a stupid joke - tends to work.
-
Even without verification, I think it goes without saying. I mean, it is essentially common sense that Dell would offer higher screen res's on the XPSM1530, and that the 1280x800 limitation right now is more just a supply issue than a specific decision to only offer that screen res.
-Zadillo -
Sweet, thanks.
-
though i haven't grown tired of the gorgeous sony screen quality
its like every time i do a comparison with a friend's new 07 laptop
i am always still amazed how far superior the sony screen is
BUT if there is one thing, even on a 13", that i get pissed at every single day since '05, its the res
now that i am thinking of getting the xps m1530, i am pissed at getting the same res on a 15.4"
com'on guys! (sighs...) u can't really be contempt with 1280x800 on 15.4"
what about multitasking?
now that websites are fast adopting wider footprint, who knows what 2009 brings to table
dell needs to stock up asap. at least they still promise these options in future
if not i would have gone a different route a long time ago -
Some people can be content and without contempt with a WXGA screen. Further, the actual market is mysterious, with people studying all their lives without completely figuring it out, but since with my KNOW IT ALL status, I figured if something was built well, people would buy it, and the opposite if something's a piece of crap. Maybe I'm wrong and a ton of people buy pieces of crap, just to spite others.

This is one of the most useless threads in history............

Although I know some people are going to disagree, here's my 2 cents..
Dell has been in the computer industry long enough to know what consumers want (and will settle for) AND has built a wide array of customer loyalty over these years. Even if Dell produces a sub par notebook, the average joe will likely to still buy them due to Dell's reputation and media campaigns. Dell is large enough (and has enough credibility) to produce slightly inferior laptop (for minimizing costs or whatever reason), despite the loss of some potential customers.
Now I don't plan to speculate why Dell chose the 1280x800 screen over say the 1680x1050, however, I'm sure that's all part of Dell's pricing strategy and/or supply limitations of the higher res screens. The fact people are already speculating a higher res screen should also be the norm. Any product will go through a product life cycle - as the product goes through maturity and into the decline part of the cycle, companies tend to add, revise, or provide some kind of upgrade to extend that particular product's life cycle. This could well be the case for the 1530 where Dell first introduces a crappy screen, and then later, adds the option of a better screen.
So all in all, I have to agree with Lithus regarding going elsewhere to shop for a notebook if you don't like the current 1530s. Yes, it sucks that the 1530 doesn't come with a better screen, but then what can you do? Surely by boycotting wouldn't do anyone any good since it will only shorten the life cycle of the 1530, hence giving the impression that any upgrades/revisions are not feasible on an economic stand point. -
Just an FYI for people thinking that the screen options are only speculation: I have already been told that there will 100% most definitely be other screen options VERY soon. This is coming from someone at Dell (Texas, NOT India
) and he doesn't BS....
-
Just to the morons who're high enough to believe that their NBF boycott will actually do anything...i have news...it wont do **** especially when ppl see the fancy new ads there sure to come out with...all the "normal" ppl with jump rite on that

Well, I'm on strike until Subway gives out free sandwiches. You should all join in, because if they don't get our sales, then they'll just give them away! Right?
-
I'm boycotting this thread, starting... now

lol -
lol i like how people are fighting over a laptop
-
...for $8000
-
Yeah, unless you are just filthy rich, anything over $3k for a laptop is the biggest waste of money on earth.
After about 18 months, you really have bought yourself the world's most expensive paperweight -
Yeah, Voodoos are the biggest rip offs in the entire of world of electronics.
-
OK the market...What really is going on is Dell is trying to boost their year end sales for the shareholders. They have nothing new in the pipeline so they released the 1530 early to boost quarterly profits. I imagine they do not even have the contracts finalized with the screen producers for the higher res yet, but in the mean time, just sell the piss out of these slimline XPS with whatever screen is available a quarter or two early. As people mentioned earlier, there are MILLIONS who will buy so this will increase their year end sales and they will keep the shareholders happy.
-
-
-
-
Yeah...getting some people on this forum to not buy the m1530 will have a huge impact on dell....
-
I believe that ppl will buy just for fact that a lower resolution makes it cheaper. If you look at several Asus models (f3sv-x1, f3sa-a1, etc...) they have been selling pretty well since they were released. Screen resolution has nothing to do with it except when considering price-performance ratio. That is all.
~TooTall -
I own a Voodoo too, worst way to spend money, lol. Mmnmm, gotta love that $1100 paint job on it though...Cough...
-
They will be adding higher res screens in the future perhaps....
-
Don't know about boycotts but the screen resolution that Dell has introduced the M1530 is really misleading for buyers who are less informed.
-
They are planning to release the following displays:
15.4-inch WXGA+ TrueLife
15.4-inch WLED WXGA+ TrueLife
15.4-inch WSXGA+ TrueLife
Check the official specification. -
-
-
maybe if they tried making it directly compete with the macbook pro- aka WXGA+ screen, thin, long battery life, and market it that way, it will sell better.
-
dell does not need to try to compete against apple. sales prove this.
