Not a total fan of how the post is written but agree in principal.. we don't want to encourage companies to come out with misleading and incomplete products designed to milk cash out of unsuspecting buyers.

I don't get where you guys get the "misleading" thing from:

If it said it had a WSXGA screen, then it would be misleading. It clearly states that it has a WXGA screen, more than once.

Well the Dell marketing machine is painting it as the bigger better brother for the M1330, any regular joe will not dig too deep into screen resolution and will buy this screen when it is the only screen option available...

    A few things:

    1. When did WXGA become a crappy screen resolution for a 15.4" machine?
    2. When did Dell become responsible for stupid people?
    3. When did people forget to read the specs?

Of course Dell is going to call their computer "bigger and better". Have you seen a company say "hey, look at our crappy product that you shouldn't buy"? If someone buys something solely based on advertising, that's their problem, not Dell's.

The WLED WXGA+ screen has identical resolution to the regular WXGA+ screen except it's LED backlit rather than CCFL. This can provide higher brightness levels, better contrast and better battery life.

The WSXGA+ is a higher resolution CCFL screen, ie. better resolution than the LED screen but not as advanced as the LED in terms of technology.

WLED = White LED backlight vs. the more conventional (and possibly thicker and heavier CCFL backlight.

I don't know what the fuss is about. 1280 x 800 is perfectly serviceable. The only complaint I have with 1280 x 800 is I use VNC for remote tech support, and it wont display without scrolling for anything over 1024 x 768 in a window. Other than that no biggie. (I have a Dell 22" LCD anyways so that mitigates most of the problem)

On the contrary, I have been asked if Dell still offers 1280 x 800 on 15.4 incher notebooks from my users. Some of them eyes might have seen a little too many winters. Same users would pass 12.1, 13.3 or 14.1 screen because they are too small, and choose the higher weight as a compromise.

So Dell don't offer what you want? Don't buy it. Starting a thread here to boycott is childish at best.

Kinda off-topic but does the m1530's 8600m GT have DDR2 or GDDR3 memory?

OMG stop asking that question. WE DON'T KNOW. Some speculate it's DDR2 others think it's GDDR3. Buy one and you tell us.

Dell is presenting the specs very clearly for anyone to read, so how exactly are they trying to mislead anyone?
