I went for WXGA+ (1440x900) glossy version because I thought the UXGA (1920 x something was just too small)

I'm a little disappointed by this screen. It's generally comfortable to work with, but the viewing angle is awful. You can have differences just by looking at the corner of the screen. You constantly have to tilt it depending on what your doing. It's still a fairly nice screen to look at, but daym, you have to be looking at it exactly from the right spot!

Another concern is the light leakage. I took these pictures fairly quickly with my cell phone, so nothing special here, at what angle should I take them to compare light leakage? One of them was taken straight on, the other at an angle.

Take a look at attachments, let me know....

he he. looks like my first AUO wxga+ matte 9400 screen.

i replaced that screen to a other matte screen, (a LG-Philip. MUCH better). then i replaced that to Dells new True life wxga+, even better.

just replace the screen, ask for a LG-Philip. (or the new True life wxga+. you might get the True life for free (i did). (or maybe you have to put 50 USD between for the True life 1440 x 900, but it worth it).

I think it's AUO. Everest said so (Monitor ID AUO3987). I have completecare and nextbusinessday. I have truelife . I DONT want to go to ultrasharp 1900 x 1600 or whatever that res is.

so you think it might be worth giving them a call, see if they'll change it to a better one?

no, you missunderstand me. (i also dont enjoy wuxga res. wxga+ is much better for gaming, etc).

Dell offers now True life with 1440 x 900 (exactley the same like the matte screens. but it True life).
here is pic from my 1440 x 900 True life

It looks about average to me, that pic is pretty much worst case scenario, I highly doubt you spend hours working in dos in the dark, the question is how does it perform in real world usage?

That picture looks about right for AUO, my samsung has the same problem except its a wide bar on the bottom instead of the cone shape, so maybe its a bit better than yours.
Its easily noticed on my, but does not affect me that much.
also the picture you took looks like something with longer than usual exposure time.
I also asked about the LG screen for replacement, but they wont give it to me, they would replace it but only with what they have at hand.

I didn't misunderstand you, I was just making sure you didn't misunderstand me, lol.

    I have truelife WXGA+ 1440x900. It's AUO.

Which do you have right now exactly? I have to know what to ask them for.
