I just noticed after plugging in my external old VGA monitor, that the colours on it are more vibrant than my laptop screen. In comparison, it looks like there's light leaking out. It's not really bothering me that much, I'm fine with it actually. But I'm just curious, is it something that can be fixed by dell without having to have them give me a new system?

All the laptops I'm in contact with (personally and professionally) seem to be washed out when compared to a desktop monitor.

Yes, as Khris said, external monitors (especially if it is an old CRT) will look better.

I hook my laptop up to my CRT all the time.

    The colors are perfect.

I was actually referring to the 19" Dell flat panels that I have at work and at home. :)
