XPS M1530 is the lightest, coupled with the LED screen that shaves off 100 grams... yeah, its lighter than all other 15.4'' ers I've owned.

The XPS line takes the cake for being the lightest.

    Thanks All.

Is the weight of XPS1530 below 2kg?

Noooo. It's about 5.4lbs at the lightest, or 2.44kg at the least.

Somewhat related: I always wondered: does a blu-ray drive instead of the standard dvd drive make a laptop a lot heavier?

lol, well to be completely accurate the Vostro 1510 is listed as slightly lighter than the M1530 (i assume without LED)...

Oh your right Tricks, the Vostro 1510 is lighter, however it does come with some sacrifices that make it not as sleek as the M1530.

Quoting from NBR's review of the Vostro 1510:
The M1530 may be lighter with the LED option since it shaves off 100 grams, but if you don't buy that, the M1530 is the second lightest notebook, but looks a lot more refined and made with better materials. :)

LOL, the Vostro 2510 is listed as being 5.72 lbs., that's right a whole .01 of a lb lighter, making it the lightest! (Yeah I'm being a jerk, and they have mistake on the site that says the D531 id 5.09 lbs making it the lightest even though it's just a typo!)

    Whaaatttteeevvvvaaarrrrr..... *rawr* :)

It still doesn't defeat the fact that Dell Inspiron is made out of higher quality materials such as magnesium and aluminum alloy unlike the plastics of the Vostro.

That means Vostro 1510 is lighter than XPS 1530, but does the Vostro 1510 feel light?

I know of Laptops such as Toshiba U400 that feels heavy when its specified as being light

It does also depend on the balance. Some laptops shift more of their weight on certain points to make it feel heavier depending on how you hold it.
