I'm new to this site and I'd like to say good job on the structure.

As for my question, I was wondering if anyone here would know if Dell has a lightweight model (less then 6 lbs) that has a reasonable battery life and isn't limited to a dreaded integrated graphics card (even a low end real graphics card would be better)?

    Thanks!

if you're not gaming, you really don't need anything more than integrated solution; especially in a lightweight model which i assume you want for portability. an integrated solution provides better battery life and less heat.

it will help if you fill out the "What Should I Buy" sticky/faq found at the top of the Hardware Forum.

Check out the Dell Latitude D610. Can be configured with a 64MB X300, low end but it's dedicated. Getting the d-bay (modular/optical bay) battery will extend battery life to over 6 hours, these can be bought for cheap on ebay.

System memory is cheaper than video memory.
