There was a problem with my hard disk and dell was supposed to send me a new one. When it arrived, it came with a new processor. I didn't realize that I had to install a new cpu but I've decided to anyway. To replace it, do I have to remove the enitre bottom casing of the laptop? If I do, what is the best way to snap it out of place without breaking anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Holy crap that's a lot of work to get to the processor on that model.

My Studio 1535 has spoiled me. I take off the bottom panel, and that's it. The thermal assembly and processor are right there. :p

Yes, Dell has sent the hard drive too. Thank you for this guide you posted though. It is just what I needed!

If you had a harddrive failure, then dont bother eplacing the CPU. They are unrelated. Dell most likely sent the wrong part. No sense replacing a fine CPU. :p

    But, your Welcome. :)

Yeah! The bottom panel is a major luxury. It was one of the reasons why I got a Studio. My cousin has an Inspiron 1520 and when I went to apply AS5, I was like:  HOLY ****! It really sucks when you have a simple problem.
