I have am using the MX3200 as my primary keyboard on an Inspiron 6400. Excellent keyboard and mouse combo. Minor complaints are that the batteries on the mouse lasted only 3 months and the USB wireless transmitter is a little too big.

As to whether you can use the mouse on its own... yes. On the road, I use a the smaller Logitech V450 mouse. The same software for the MX3200 will work for the V450 mouse and all I have to do is plug the appropriate USB wireless transmitter.

S510 is an awesome keyboard. The mouse isn't anything special, but it works, which is more important. The KB is very sleek, and very good.

Personally, I have a couple (one at work, one at home) LX710 keyboard/mice combos and I really like both the keyboard and the mouse. The LX710 keyboard is the best keyboard I've ever used. the mouse that comes with the LX710 is laser too, which I really like.

It has a mini usb receiver too, which is nice when I'm traveling and want to take the mouse with me.

    dordale :)
