I just picked up a VX Nano to use with my 1520 with Vista. It works great with the nano adapter, but I thought from what I read that it's a bluetooth mouse and can be used with the build-in Bluetooth on my 1520.

I almost don't care, as the nano adapter is so small, but it would be nice to not tie up one of the USB ports for it.

I've turned BT on on the 1520 and scanned for new devices, but nothing shows up. This is with the nano dongle removed and the mouse switched on. Is there something I have to do to get the mouse to search for the notebook? If I do get it synced with the 1520, is there anything I have to do to get it back to working with the nano dongle?

I don't think it's BT. I think it uses a different frequency or something.

Its not BT, its RF. Why did you think it was BT? The whole point of the nano is that the dongle doesn't stick out to the point where it is easily broken off.

I thought it was BT because I asked the guys in the store, and in the typical idiot way that retail guys do they assured me that all 2.4Ghz mice are BT. Man, I hate it when I get suckered that way...

I assume the 2.4Ghz the mouse uses doesn't interfere with WiFi?

It appears that Logitech makes very few BT mice - the 470 (which I didn't see in any of the retail stores I was in) looks to be the only notebook-sized one. Maybe the only one they make at all? And MS has 1-3 BT mice, too.

I will say that it does work nicely, and there's no issue of the mouse going to sleep when not in use (well, I only let it sit for 90 minutes or so). I wonder which draws more power from the notebook battery - the TX nano receiver or the built-in BT on the notebook?

The only thing I don't like is the separate middle-click button. But that's just a matter of getting used to it. And I recall that older Logitech wired mice, at least, had a touchy middle-click that I tended to get a middle-click when I was trying to scroll. And I think I'm going to fall in love with the whizzy middle wheel, which can take off and SCROLL when I want to.

So I will have to puzzle on this, as I really do have an open USB port I can dedicate to this, I think.

Separate middle click button? They separated the middle click from the wheel? I have a VX and I have a middle click button on the wheel and a button underneath the wheel. Are you sure you can't click the middle button?

On the VX nano, when you click the wheel (and it's a hard click) it switches between free-wheeling and the normal ratcheting. There is a small button behind the wheel (closer to the heel of your hand) that is the middle-click.

Thats dumb. I wonder why they changed it. On the VX revolution its a switch on the bottom of the mouse that switches between free and click wheel and the mouse wheel still acts like a middle button.

I think I'll continue to deal with the large dongle.
