I currently have a WXGA (1280x800) Samsung (SEC3358) screen. To put it bluntly, it sucks. Grainy, backlight bleed all over, and now a few dead pixels have popped up. This is my second Vostro 1500 and the screen is worse on this one than the previous one. I want to contact Gold Tech Support and request a LG screen as a replacement.
Does anyone know the Dell part number for a LG WXGA (1280x800) glossy screen? I've tried searching for an answer, but I can only find part numbers for the 1440x900 and 1680x1050 models.
Thanks in advance!

Another unhappy SEC3358 owner here searching for a decent replacement too! It's only slightly grainy, but the viewing angles are sub-par.
I was told on another forum that the part number for the 15.4" WXGA 1280x800 LG/Philips screen is WR362, but then another site mentions that the WR362 are 14.1" screens.
Also people have reported the 15.4" WXGA 1280x800 LG screen to be grainy: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=159904
So I don't know whether I should try to get a replacement or not
If anyone's had an SEC3358 screen replaced I would love to know what their verdict is. -
OK, I got a part number for you guys. This is the part number for LG WXGA 1280x800. Dell part number is NU763, and this is for 15.4". I have LG screen and it is great!!! No complain here.
I hope this information would help. Please let me know how it is going. -
Well, I called Dell Tech Support and they are sending someone out next week to replace my screen. I asked specifically for the LG (thanks again for that part no. Merlin!), and will let you know how it looks once it's in.

part number of LG WXGA (1280x800) glossy screen is XU235
NU763 is for dell 1530 -
The tech replaced my screen today with an LG/Phillips screen (model LPL0301) - replacement was quick and easy, and the difference was clear from the loading screen - the LG is so much brighter and clearer, text is easier to read, and there is significantly less grain, particularly when browsing with IE. I specifically requested part number NU763 - it's a 15.4" glossy LG WXGA 1280x800 TL screen (as far as I can tell). I am extremely impressed with both the service and the result!
The only thing I noticed with the LG was that there was some noticeable screen flickering (particularly around the tight horizontal lines on the Vostro's default desktop image). I adjusted the Nvidia control panel settings and this minimised the flickering effect, then tried a different desktop image and that was it - no more flickering. I've checked it with lots of different images, including those with tight horizontal lines, but haven't seen the flickering occur again, so I don't have any complaints. But has anyone had this kind of thing happen before? It seems odd that it's only noticeable on one particular desktop image.
