Hi, I would like to buy a workstation that can hold 3 drives, one for SSD and two for 2 TB hdds (4 TB total) for stroage. I know m6800 is capable, but its FHD TN panel does not appeal me at all.

My budget is $1200 and I don't mind buying older generation models.
Are there any other model that can hold 3 drives in total and have a decent display? I don't mind the brand either.
I've looked at m4800 but I'm not sure if it can have 3 drives installed.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you ever thought about building your own? Its easier than you think, and you can build it exactly the way you want. Everything these days is plug and play!

Opps, I was thinking desktop. I have an acer 7720 that can have 2 drives installed in the machine itself and then a third on the removal of the DVD drive. Find a new laptop with those and you should be good. Most 17" will accomidate 3 drives if they have a removable DVD drive.

Can put 3 drives in a Dell Latitude E6440. 1 9mm in the standard HDD bay, another 9mm if you pull the DVD player out and install one of those trays with a HDD, and a mSATA internally.

14". Haswell-generation CPU's, but you can go with a true i7 quad in them as well, which still beats most of the Skylakes.

Beat me to it but yes the 5440 and 6440 series of Dell Latitudes can handle 3 drives that way. You will lose the optical obviously. I'm not sure if the E7440 can do the same though. If you go with the E5440 you get the newer looking styling ( looks like the newer E5450 and E5470 ) while the E6440 can look outdated BUT E6440 gives you upgradeability, even the CPU can be changed. When buying an E6440 however make sure you get one with the 1080P screen as upgrading to the 1080p screen is not possible ( different connectors ).

3 drives is quite easy, but 2 drives in 2.5" form factor is not. Most Dells with the WWAN port will accept an mSATA SSD in the port, however, it'll only run in SATA II speeds for some models.
What you can essentially do is, install OS on the WWAN port (mSATA), and use a mix of HDDs and SSDs in the remaining M.2 and SATA ports.
