Hey folks, this is my first post although I have been lurking around for a week or so. I was hoping someone could tell me when they thought I may actually receive my 1420. It was ordered on 8/16 and the ESD is 8/31. Here are the specs:

    Inspiron 1420, Intel Core 2 Duo T7300, 2.0GHz, 800Mhz 4M L2 Cache
Basic Black Matte LCD back color
    2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm
High Resolution, glossy widescreen 14.1 inch display (1440x900)
NVIDIA (R) GeForce TM Go 8400M GS with 128MB dedicated graphic memory
    120G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Integrated 2.0 mega pixel web cam

I have been told by dell that they do not expect any delays for my order but I have a hard time believing that after reading about others problems on here. If anyone has any knowledge about which parts are on backorder please let me know. Also, if anyone has ordered around that same time period, what is your current order status? Thanks in advance!

That could be a realistic ship date.
    You don't have color lid
You don't have the top end vid card
    It's a 1420 not a 15 or 17.
Most of us that are delayed ordered stuff you opted out of.

The video card I selected was actually the best one that is offered for the 1420. I notice that the 1520 offers a 256mb one. Anyone know why that is not available on the 1420?

I would think that's a good estimate on the shipping date!

    See my signature

I have exactly the same thing as you except for the alpine white colour (Same as Jetblack essentially with no delays)

Because I just talked with a Customer service rep online and they told me i should receive my laptop next week (Which is going to be early!)

Lets hope we receive ours early eh? =]

As for why the 256 MB is not offered, probably because is too costly or the size is different? who knows =s

Man I hope so. Reading all these problems on this forum is driving me crazy. I am worried to death that my screen is going to be grainy and useless. I thought I was doing myself a favor by upgrading to the higher resolution glossy screen. Anyone know the likelihood of me not having a problem with my High Resolution, glossy widescreen 14.1 inch display (1440x900)?
