Please bear with me as I am new and I actually did do a search first but am still learning. This is my first personal laptop and I am trying to make the comparison. I looked in a previous post and it said to go into device manager and then the hardware ID to see what it had listed. When I do this I go to "details" and then "hardware ids" and it just shows "monitor/lcd2306. I am happy with my new 1330 but trying to verify if Dell got everything right on my order as the screen seems brite but not 33% or whatever it is they claim on the LED.

Is there any specific place to go within vista to ensure I have the LED screen?

I just got a dell xps 1330 with the LED paid for in order the other day.

Funny, you're not the first 1330 owner who posted this question. Shouldn't be that hard to spot a led screen, it's very thin and you can bend it a little. The wled version also has a 0.3Mp camera while the ccfl screen has a 2.0Mp camera.

I owned the M1330 with LED screen and did not find it much brighter than the Non-LED versions on my other laptops. I DID find the back lighting to be perfect with no dark edges which was a big plus. Remember that advertising and the 33% thing is to sell and somethimes may be a little off! <vbg>

Isn't the LED factor less about size and more about battery longevity?

Dell claims brighter (33%) but compared to what?
It would also give more even lighting and yes use less power!

ANYWAY, to the OP - YES you have the TMD LED Display! (LCD2306)

Congrats, because you have the best LED display Dell gives out (Toshiba). I bet you it is really nice, huh?

Thank you for the replies. I really do like it, I just had no comparison other than screenshots from searching.

You got the Toshiba LED, which is supposed to be a great screen (mine is). I do not see a noticeable difference in brightness between my 2306 and the 1330's CCFL-backlit LCD. But the extra thinness, small weight difference and knowing that it won't start dimming on me in 2 years, make it worth the extra $150 I spent on it, IMHO.

If you're concerned that you have a defective panel, try comparing it to a plain old quality LCD - see if your eyes perceive a difference in brightness, or just color. My 2306 LED is brighter than my few-month-old Dell panel (at the moment).
