Hi, I ordered a Vostro 1400 with 6cell battery and additional 9cell battery, but I hear some "loose" battery problems around the forum. Is it happening to all vostro users or only some? Also if the battery is loose, how serious is it when taking the laptop outside/for travel. Does the battery literally like come off? How can I tighten up the fit?
Help me ~
Thank You
-
Its not going to come out or anything. The battery is securely held in with clips on two sides, just wiggles around a bit. I only notice it when picking up the laptop to move it around, however it annoys me in that regard unless I stick a piece of paper in there folded up.
-
Yeah, it won't fall out. I took it out, looked it over. However, you can use a tiny piece of electrical tape on the track and that stops the wobble completely. It really does only move about 1mm.

Thanks for the reply. Are both 6 and 9cell batteries abit loose or only some of them? maybe the 9 cell would wobble abit more cuz its bigger?

Mine is loose too on 1420
I ordered a replacment and that's loose too.
I had fews questions
* original battery says 'Japan only' - what does this mean?
* orig battery is 'made in japan; assembled in Malaysia'
new battery is 'made in Korea'
Since both are loose, which one i should keep? -
which ever country you like more... i doubt very much that they a big difference but i would keep the new one just because its newer.
-
The battery for the Vostro 1400 and the Inspiron 1420 are just the same.
-
The best part is that if it didn't have the 1mm gap to move a little, people would probably complain that it was too tight
-
so it's a bad thing that the battery on my 1400 moves more like 1-1.5 cm instead 1 mm?
-
If it moves 1.5 cm I don't see how it could possibly not just fall out on the floor... the clips that hold it in place should stop that kind of movement...

Did you have to give them the serial number of the battery so they can send you the replacement?
I am asking for a different to get it to fit snug. They said they apparently have a fix with another battery, maybe the one from S.Korea.
Mine is a Panasonic and say Made in Japan, assembeled in Malaysia. -
No, i didn't have to give any serial number. I just gave them my order number.
Where does it say, it is Panasonic ?? (my orig battery says Cell made in Japan, assembled in Malaysia). -

From there I found that I have the panasonic battery and CMO LCD.
