When starting up the full screen log-on wth the picture icon is no longer available. Says some program removed it. Must reinstall. This is an Inspiration 1200 and came from Dell already set-up with no repair or any other CD's that I recall of. Suggestions?

does it skip this or will it not go into windows at all after that? Dell always gives cds incase you need to reinstall...you need to find these cds.

Wrong. I had to call Dell tech and request all the CDs for my Inspiron E1705.

there may be a recover partition. i'm not too familiar with dells. are you saying that windows doesn't start up at all, or that you can get into windows but don't see the login screen first?

Call dell and have them send you a OS cd. If its just the pic and you can login then backup all your stuff and reinstall windows.

Some program has replaced my welcome screen and fast user screen. Need to know how to reinstall. No CD's came with the Inspiron 1200. I can still log on. The thing I don't like is the log-on screen is just a small box, whereas the welcome screen was full screen and allowed a selcted personal icon. I happen to choose the dog. Being out of warranty it appears Dell requires a charge to talk to them?

Start...Control Panel...User Accounts...Change the way users log on or off (If you don't see this option click on the User Accounts again)

Place the checkmark in "Use the Welcome Screen"

also make sure "Use Fast User Switching" (not required but is useful in Windows Welcome screen mode)
