    Re. Vostro 1500

I fixed this problem by doing a system restore, but I'm wondering if someone can tell me what happened.

In the system tray, I noticed that Wireless Network Connection Status icon (the one with the pc picture and 2 "))" type lines) had an "X" next to it, and left clicking it did not bring up the Wireless Network Connection Status window.

The Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility icon (the one with the 4 strength bars) showed I had a connection, and I was in fact in the process of using the wireless connection to download an update for MediaDirect (which completed normally).

I could not open the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility.

I right clicked on the Wireless Network Connection Status icon, and clicked "Disable".

Now both of the icons I mentioned were gone from the system tray, and I couldn't find any way to enable my wireless connection or get the icons back.

Like I said, I fixed it by doing a system restore. Was there another way?

I had a similar problem. My wireless decides to turn off itself, and when click the icon on the system tray.. it didn't want to popup.
So i checked the dell website for any updates on drivers, and there was.
    And now its working normally

Do you know which driver you updated (the number, and/or release date)?
