    Hi guys:

The thing is the following. I received my 1420 about a month ago but i am sick and tired of all the problems i've had to delt with...

For a start i got a very crappy AUO screen which was replaced with a SEC which is acceptable but still in comparison with friends of mine who've got other laptops my screen doesn't look as good (HPs mainly).

Then i noticed the dreaded CPU whine. I've definetly got it and also i can hear some interference when using headphones on the audio jacks. If i use RMClock the noise gets a bit lower but i still dislike the fact that i have to "workaround" this whine as i hoped that if i spent almost 2k on a laptop i would get a flawless machine that works perfectly for everything that it should (music, etc).

Then i also noticed build quality issues. The cover doesn't close perfectly as one side (when the lid is closed), is taller (or more separate from the palmrest) than the other.

So, i rang up dell yesterday. I asked for a system exchange and the order is waiting for approval. I will get an email once this is supposedly approved. However, having read that almost all of my issues are shared by the vast majority of other users, i don't know whether to stick with this plan of waiting for a system exchange or asking for a full refund. I was thinking of maybe just asking for a full system refund right away and getting an XPS1530 later in january or february when the higher resolutions screens are available, as i dont linke 1280x800 native (i feel its too low for me as i really like lots of viewing space).

What would you do in such a case?

The other thing is maybe i could wait for the exchange machine, try it out, and if keeps anoying me with similar problems THEN ask for the refund and analyze the option of an 1530, but i don't know if i have that much time for the option of asking for a refund still being available.

From what i've read 1530's aren't suffering from CPU whine or audio jack issues (which are the things that bother me the most). Can you confirm this information?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions regarding this.
    Anibal
