When my Studio 1537 is powered down, either through shutdown or suspend, it makes a loud beep just before it turns off.

    Anyone else got this problem?

Never happened to my 1535. You might want to make sure your memory is properly seated.

Re-seated the memory still beeps. Noticed it seems to be intermittent.

I've never heard of beep codes happening at shutdown. Perhaps look up what the single beep means for the 1535 and troubleshoot accordingly?

There is a noise I often here that sounds like a beep when I manually power down my laptop. Its the HDD heads quickly moving off the HDD and locking into place.

Its not a long beep though, just a fast one.

Is this beep coming from your speakers or a part of your computer?

It's not the HDD and it's not coming from the speakers.

Check your sound themes setting as the default windows sound may of changed to a beep sound.

Don't think it's Windows as I have tri-boot (Ubuntu, Vista, 7 RC) happens on all OS's.

By the way thanks for all the responses.

Highly doubt its the HHD but it is a possibility. Anyone know any reasons for the HDD beeping?
