    Hello,
I am going to be buying a new m1210 with c2d 2.13ghz, 2gb ram, 100gb/7200rpm HD, A/V, wwan card, bluetooth, geforce, etc... pretty loaded. My question is about the battery life... I am not liking how the extended battery sticks out of the back of the computer. Will the battery life with a regular battery be long enough for a couple of dvds on the airplane? I'm trying to decide if I should just stick with the regular battery to keep the overall footprint small.

    thanks!

If you are configuring it with the go7400 then you will need the extended battery.

I'd recommend getting the 9-cell. I can push 5 hours of battery life just doing simple work like word processing and surfing the internet.

I doubt even with the 9-cell battery that you'll be able to watch several full length DVD movies though.

the 6 cell would be good for one, it would be a stretch to get 3 out of a 9 cell, 2 should be fine, I got mine with a 6 cell, and I plan to purchase a 9 cell on ebay in the near future, you can find new ones there much cheaper than through dell,

You mean 6 cell would be good for one movie... so a couple of hours on a 6-cell?

I get about 4:38 minutes with just internet and word. If you use media direct to view DVDs instead of powering up the laptop and then using media center to view DVD then I get about 2 movies easy. The cool thing about the M1210 is that it has 2 headphone jacks so in case you meet a nice gal on the plane you can offer her to jack in and share the movie

    cheers,
