I've upgraded my M1210 to Vista Business, and noticed that even with the power setting on "Power Saver", it seems there is no change in CPU speed when on battery--it is always at 1.83Ghz.

With XP on battery, the CPU was clocked at 1/2 the full speed, but no matter what I do, the CPU under Vista is always at full speed.

    I use the SYSTEM screen (R-click COMPUTER, choose PROPERTIES). It shows "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83Ghz 1.83Ghz".

Shouldn't that "1.83Ghz" be the signifying current CPU speed?

My battery life (true, not just what the battery meter says) is close to 2.5 hours with a 9-cell, and I'm trying to improve on that. But, when on battery, the fan is ALWAYS blowing...

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

The Advanced settings of Power Management (click on the battery icon) should allow you to change almost any of the available battery saving settings. You can probably find a 'performance' section to alter there.

under battery management go to advance and processor speed setting, it should be at 5%. If not, there is your problem. You should definitely be getting more than 2.5 hours on your 9 cell. It shouldn't even read that low.
