Hi so I just got my new XPS system. Kinda still getting used to the world of laptops. So everything checks out sofar except I am getting just a "tad" bit annoyed at the hissing thats coming I believe out of the AC adapter plug. Anyone else have this problem? What can I do to stop this? Or is it normal?
The hissing is always there it seems. When the computer is thinking is when its more prominent. When I plug in the AC adapter, the hissing is much louder. No one has this problem?

    System specs:

    A/V cam package
    T2400 1.83ghz
    1gb 667mhz ram
    100gb 7200rpm hd
    wireless 1500 N-router card
    9-cell battery

    Thanks guys.

I seem to be have the same problem. My m1210 emits a buzzing/hissing/whining sound when the power supply is plugged in. When its running on battery, no sound.

I'm not sure if its coming out of the ac adapter or from the laptop itself.

    fix'd...................

About the hissing sounds, sorry if this sounds dumb, but are you sure it's not the cooling fans? Laptops on battery tend to underclock the CPU (thus less heat and fans running at a lower RPM or at all) to save power. If you're talking about buzzing noises though, I can relate. Having exchanged/tried 4 laptops from 3 different manufacturers now, 3 of them had buzzing sounds coming out of the power supply when on AC power. Whether or not if it's my bad luck I don't know, but hey, at least it's a common thing. Either ask Dell for an exchange or live with the "problem". That's pretty much all you can do.
