It has come time to upgrade the RAM on our M1210. We got one of the early models when it first came out but only got the 1gb of ram.

I have been shoping around and given that we are in Canada the deals don't seem to be as good because most of the large website based sellers will not ship here.

This is what I'v found, which one do you guys recommend.

    NCIX
    OCZ PC2-5400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-667 CL5-5-5-15 200PIN SODIMM Dual Channel Memory Kit PRICE 99.99

    Patriot Signature Line PC2-5400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-667 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN DDR2 DIMM Memory PRICE 94.22

    Corsair XMS2 DHX TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX 4GB DDR2 2X2GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 5-5-5-18 240PIN Memory Kit Price 135 (-40 mail in rebate)

    Tigerdirect
    OCZ Vista Upgrade Dual Channel 4096MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory (2 x 2048MB) $122 (-30 mail in rebate)

I suggest you use NCIX. They are a Canadian-based seller (Main office in Richmond). They sell both computers and computer parts, and usually have incredibly good deals. I highly suggest them, as they are one of the best for Canada.

    Thank you.

Which of those ram options listed do you recommend?

The dell Canada website has an indicator, just enter your tag# and it'll give you a list of Dell rams, but don't buy those (just get the info), they're over priced, but instead look through their selection of ram that isn't made by them which are much cheaper. I just bought 2 gigs of corsair ram (1 slot) for my inspiron 1420 for $50 CAD free shipping, cheers ;)

I'm reading online that the M1210 takes the PC2-4200/5300 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs.

    2 questions:
    1) Are the above listed options okay with this laptop?
    2) Which of the above options would you chose?

    I'd go with 5300

I would go with the first one. OCZ is a very good manufacturer for RAM.

I think you'll find they are both desktop RAM kits.

Crap. I missed that. This is the first time I've upgraded the ram on one of our laptops. Any other advice on the suggested RAMs? Will the first listed option work on this system?

According to your other post concerning what the 1210 supports the first choice will be fine.

Don't know enough to chime in, but I'm one 1210 owner who's watching... Thinking of getting more ram, though still running xp I guess 2 meg is fine.

Right - the 1210 uses the Intel 945GM chipset that supports DDRII-667 (PC2-5400) so any 200 pin SODIMM PC2-5400 (667MHz) will be fine.
