I got my m1210 last week, and I been happy with it.
But whenever I compare it to my desktop's monitor, the screen does not look good.
It seems like it might have light leakage, I am not really sure though...
Does desktop monitor always looks better than notebook screen?
I will include couple pics for you to compare...Both are in brightest setting.
    Should I worry?
I mean it's not really bad but just got me worry whenever I compare these two screen...
To my eye, desktop monitor is much easier to look...
    Thank you for any comments..

The second picture looks pretty good. It does seem like you have a lot of light leakage though.

and to answer your question, I wouldn't worry. It seems fine. As long as you don't mind the little light leakage it looks fine.

does dell replace screen if it has light leakage?
I guess I am little afraid that I will get worse one...
also does light leakage get worse over the time or it stays same?

in most cases they do, but every representative handles situations differently. Just give them a call and tell them that it's bothering your work because there is too much light leakage.

I'm pretty certain that light leakage stays the same.

what type of monitor is that?

Yea that's quite a bit of light leakage there. I mean, when the screen isn't black it's not noticeable, but it's pretty bad when they are.

Although, I gotta say my desktop LCD is significantly better than my laptop LCD.

I am talking to Dell Representive, and I am really frustrated...
They are asking me to do all kind of things and asking me to remove the screen or dis-assemble it...
I mean I am talking to them for a hour now, I am really getting pissed...
They just don't understand my question.

I had to send them pics. After that, they agreed to replace the LCD.
It took me a hour but I guess I will have that fix.
I hope technician brings better LCD...
I wonder how long it will take them to come out and replace the LCD...

I really cant understand why DELL keeps on selling those terrible Toshiba screens. By now they surerly must have noticed that there is something wrong with those screens. I think the amount they save by must far outweigh the cost of replacing few.

Yeah, I hope he brings AUO this time. I hope they uses AUO on all the M1210.
I don't maybe toshiba is cheaper or something for them, but they probably replace bunch of toshiba.

How long does it take technician to come out and replace the screen?
I was told that he will call me in 1-2days to schedule a time. I have a nextday thing on warranty so...hoping to get done by weekend...

Hopefully my replacement doesn't come with a toshiba screen. Otherwise, I may swap the LCD before sending my broken m1210 in ...

the samsung is pretty good as well. I'd say it's just as good as the AUO monitor. The only one that really receives complaints are the Toshiba monitors. So as long as it's good for you, no worries right?

btw, I guess I'd consider myself lucky. Both my M1210's got AUO monitors. The third M1210 that I ordered should be coming next week. I kinda want to get the toshiba monitors to see how crappy they are.

I came across a Toshiba screen yesterday; even though it is still very much usable, there is a noticeable difference between that and my Samsung when compared side by side. Too bad I couldn't take few shots to post here (I didn't have my camera with me :( ). There was slight light leakage but it was tolerable compared to color saturation.

When you look straight at the screen with a slight angle it is ok; but still the picture looks as if the brightness is turned up too high. Adjusting brightness, contrast or vibrance settings from nVidia control panel didn't help much. Viewing angles are also comparatively lower.

I wonder how the AUO screen looks  , only complaint I have with my Samsung is the limited vertical viewing angles, but it is alright with me. The best notebook LCD I've seen so far belonged to a Toshiba Qosmio G series. Even though my screen is not up to that level when considering overall quality, it is not far off as long as you look at it directly  .

The size of the screen has a big impact on viewing angles, the smaller the screen, the tighter it gets.
