All of these were done without any overclocking, optimizations, or reinstall of windows or anything of that nature. I'm sure they scores could have been a little higher. As for noticeable difference, I think it does boot up faster and things do seem a little snappier.

    Now for the benchmarks:

Battery Life: I got a little OVER 3 hours surfing the web on my 6 cell battery with the brightness set to 2 clicks below full and wifi on. I think I used to get around 2.5 hours, so it's a pretty large improvement.

SuperPi 2M: I used to get 1m22s with the 1.86ghz Yonah. I've gotten 57 or 58 seconds with the Merom.

3Dmarks: I don't think this improved by much. The CPU scores went up a little bit.

PCMarks: I don't have a base to compare to. Can some of you with Yonahs post your PCmark scores?

SiS Sandra Benchmarks: I downloaded the new version which lists the T7400 Merom as one of the bench guides along with many of the new Conroes. It's nice to see that my T7400 beats the guide and holds up well against other "high end" processors listed.

Hmmm.. .very nice. I'm wondering how hard/easy the upgrade when I get one of these CPUs (and I'm pretty sure I'm getting one).

thanks for those results govtcheez. As expected, merom really shines in multimedia applications and holds itself very well against desktop processors such as opteron. Looks like will be worth the wait for me :)

interesting how 2 online tests are showing that merom isnt really that more "efficient" than yonah. Performance has confirmed to be better, but the battery life increase is not materializing just yet.
