I recently got a new Dell XPS M1210 with Vista and 2.0ghz processor and 1gb ram. When I play music in Windows Media Player it takes ages to change tracks, several seconds. This is the same whther the source is a cd or files on the hard disc.

    Is this a Vista problem?

It is a problem with vista.
    To fix it:
    1. Right click on the speaker icon and select "Playback devices"
    2. Select "Speakers/Headphones" and then click on properties
    3. Select the "Enhancements" tab
    4. Check the "disable all enhancements" box
    5. 'OK' your way out..and you're done!

    Hope that works!
