I just got my M1210 in. When I go into the bios and look at the spec's for the Video Card it is showing that it is a 7400 but it only has 64Mb of Video. Is this normal, Dells web site says its a 256Mb Card. What gives?!![]()

The 64MB is the dedicated portion of the 256MB. It steals 192MB from the system RAM.

That is dumb and should be better noted on dell's web site.

i agree its a bit sketchy, but no surprise with that

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Theres no need to worry about it, NV's turbocache is very efficient, in benchmarks the cards with 128 MB dedicated perform no better than the 64 MB, in some of the tests the 64 actually pulled slightly ahead. Just about all midrange to low end notebook cards share system memory, some desktop cards even do it too.

If you click on the Help me choose link to view more information about the video card options of M1210 you will get this page, it clearly says that Go 7400 has 64MB of onboard memory and shares up to 192MB from the system memory. Besides, how much dedicated memory it has really doesnt really matter as long as it performs well, right ? So dont worry about it. Cos Go7400 is almost as fast as the ATI X1400 256MB Hyper memory card; which only comes in 14.1 or larger notebooks.
Therefore, actually you should be thankful for having that much of performance packed in to a 12.1 ! -
I had the same panic today, but now I am left wondering why I can't get better than a 3.3 on the Vista graphics performance score. That's not very good.

nVidia's Vista drivers just aren't very good at the moment. When they mature, you'll notice an improvement.
