I'm thinking about buying the m1210 at costco because it is so much cheaper than configuring the same model at dell.com, i have a couple of questions though. the model they offer ( http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11136776&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&bp=category&Ne=4000000&N=4001556&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&img=0 )
has everything i want except bluetooth, is there any way to get add in a bluetooth chip after i get it (does anyone know what the chip in the m1210 is)? would that void my warranty?
also i would like a longer warranty (perhaps a accidental one) can i buy that after from dell or can you only get a dell extended plan when you configure it from them?
thanks for any help.

i probably should have done some more research first but, you can buy the same bluetooth chip from dell after http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=430-1676
i just don't know how to install it.

**** thats a good price... too bad it's not configurable, cuz it's not at all what i would want.
-

The only problem is the 5400 hard drive, oh and the 12" UXGA! That better be at typo...
-
thats not bad if u plan to upgrade to merom. think about it..it will only be a couple of months. then you could always get RAM and a bigger hard drive for cheap
-
Good price...I'd agree that screen listed must be a typo, just how small would a 12" UXGA screen be??!!

The WUXGA is a typo so is the Stereo 2 watt per channel main speakers and 5 watt, class D subwoofer with bass reflex port...

I've heard it's located underneath the battery compartment.. but I can't verify. Something to look into though.

does anybody know if you can buy these at the store?
-
I doubt you can buy Dell laptops at costco, since Dell is a customizable notebook. They primarily sell HP, Toshiba, and Compaq notebooks.

You can add the bluetooth aftermarket. Call Dell spare parts for the price. Last I heard it was less than $20.

Dell is actually selling several pre-configured models at Costco and a handful of other places from time to time.
-
That is a really good price. the same config from dell website is almost $1800. It is actually almost the same config that i wanted, cept for it has that TV 2nr, which is wholly uneccessary, but it comeswith the laptop, so whatever. I think theres a lot of tpos in that thing, cuz the m1210 only comes with 667mhz ram, andd the costco one is advertised at 533mhz. Also theres the UXGA screen, and then the subwoofer thing. Maybe they copied part of the M1710s specs? I think I am going to get this one from costco, its a good price, and has nice portabilty and performance...

well i placed my order at costco, at the bottom of the page though it says
"The Preliminary Ship Date is 20-25 business days and represents the estimated time it takes to process your order and custom build your computer based on approved credit card purchase. The Preliminary Ship Date is not intended to provide you with an actual ship date."
I really hope it doenst take a month to get my laptop, i guess i'll have to wait and see. -
my local costco also have preconfig DELL pc for sale.
