Hey this is my first time posting here but I just wanted to get the word out about dell's policy for people that have a m1210 that may be having probs such as high pitch whine or other things. If you warranty is still good and you have tried several times to fix your m1210 through tech support and trouble shooting, dont feel obligated to do that forever. If you make your case well enough, dell with authorize an exchange for a system of equal or great value. In my m1210 I had the high pitch whine and so I called dell several times to get it fixed, they had me do diagnostic tests and fiddle around, when that didnt work they sent out a repair guy with replacement parts. Twice he visited my house with different parts and still the problem persisted. So at that point I had reached my limit and I told dell that since what they were doing wasnt working, i felt entitled to a system replacement. They of course at first resisted but in the end after much persuading they finally gave in. When i recieved the order # for the new computer, I was shocked somewhat to see that it was a m1330. It was much better than my 1210. However when I recieved it, it wouldnt even turn on! So by this time I was so upset and called and complained and they told me someone would call me back within a day. They didnt call back so I called and inquired what was going on? I was shocked yet again when the customer service man told me that there was another replacement on its way! They had not informed me of this so I was a little worried that it wouldnt be what i wanted because of the first replacement. It was white whereas my original m1210 was black and thats what i wanted. However when I finally got my order # I was blown away that they had upgraded me again to a m1530 that was totally decked out. So as of right now I am sitting waiting for it and hoping it will be okay because I expect it to be a refurb. Anyways I am just getting this out there so people will know that if they bought a m1210 and it isnt working how it should for the money they payed, they should definetly call dell and get what they deserve. You will have to fight for it and be persistent but in the end customer satisfaction will win and satisfaction is what you deserve.

That's interesting, I would have expected them to send you the M1330 instead. Congratulations on the successful solution though.
Hope it works out for you. -
Did you read the post? They did initially send him an m1330.
-
Yea the m1330 was the first thing they sent me... but it was broken. I dont know why they upgraded it again to a 1530, doesnt really make sense to me since I know there about a billion refurbed m1330 at dell but whatever, im happy
maybe they just wanted to make sure I was really satisfied this time since they sent me a broken computer as a replacement.

And yes, I did read the post. And yes, I did notice that they had sent him a M1330 that was DOA. I also noticed that they sent him a M1530 in replacement of that, which is what I found very odd considering that his machine was a 12.1 (relatively light and portable).
PS: The blue links were kinda obvious. -
I'm glad you sound happy about this and getting a replacement, but your story sounds messed up.
First they send you a broken 1330... then they replace that with a 1530 without telling you? What if you wanted the 1330 because isn't the 1210 a 12.1" machine? A 13" machine would make more sense.
Dell's customer service is awesome and bad at the same time. -
can i send back my 1530 for something better in the next few months if something new come out???
-
webdtc, yea it is messed up for sure. Even though I am getting a 1530 I am pretty upset about all the trouble I have gone through and I am dissapointed that neither time did they consult me about the replacement they sent me even though I specifically told them to tell me, all they did the first time was tell me it would be equivalent of my 1210. Its hard to stay mad though when they give me a better one, just as long as this time its not DOA. Also im sure if the 1530 seems too large for me when I get it they will take it back because of not consulting with me.
