    1) does the computer come with a built in microphone if you dont get the webcam upgrade? Does it even come with that upgrade?
    2) how much dedicated memory does the 7400 have? It says 256 for memory, but does that include turbocache?

EPP means Employee Purchasing Program. Your employer has to sign up for the program with Dell, and the discounts vary. However, I do believe that they apply to all Dell proucts.

If you want the EPP discount, just call them up and order through EPP. Just give them the name of the university around your city. That's all. They don't even check. It saved me $600 off my M1210.

There's a mic on the webcam if you elect to get that upgrade.

    sirius,

which university did you say? I think stanford has deals only with HP since their founders went here. Cal is too cheap to do this methinks.

Do I say Im a student or an employee of the university?

All you do, is call EPP up. make sure you're talking with the Employee purchase program and NO ONE else. Some people will lie to try to get you to buy their products and won't transfer you to EPP, so make sure you choose the correct one.

I go to school at the University of Iowa, so I'm not really lying. But they didn't do anything other than ask what school i go to and what zip code is it in. There was nothing other than that. And with EPP, if your purchases are more than $1400 (which it will be with the M1210), then you get a 12 percent discount. which is really beneficial. Also, ask for the 4 year warranty upgrade and the $150 off of the warranty.

Secondly, when going through EPP, you get a free $75 gift card that arrives 6-8 weeks afterwards.

If anything is confusing, just ask. Thanks

btw, for a price comparison to see if you're getting a good deal,

I got two of the same XPS M1210 for $1750 including tax and shipping, with the specs below except both were 1G and not 2G. I got 4 years complete care on both and a 6 + 9 cell battery. I also told them "you know what would seal the deal? if you included free NBD (next business day) shipping!"

they will say, "let me check with my supervisor."

then they come back and approve. At least that's how it was for both my M1210's. (the second one arrives tomorrow).

oh i definately believe you. I just asked which school you went to so that I could say the same when I call Dell.

Its a strange business choice to have different prices over the phone. I wouldve imagined that they would just have a guy sitting a computer and typing everything you say into their website. i wonder if the phone operators make comission or something

If you took the time to read my post, that's what I'm claiming. But it may be different from you since you're in the middle east. I don't know.

This is based on three purchases made through EPP. I'm not guaranteeing anything lol.

Claiming you're a student to just get a deal is not ethical nor legal. Thread closed.
