    Hey all,

I'm trying to decide whether or not to get one of these notebooks (or not at all), and I can't decide. What are some of the pros and cons? Given that I just bought a 360 a few days ago, I'm not 100% certain about this purchase though...I would need some significant improvement over my current laptop.

Uses: Mostly for educational crap, watching DVDs, MATLAB & engineering apps in general, LIGHT gaming (I have a 360 for the heavy stuff).

    What I'm most interested in:
Battery Life (5+ hours if possible)
Light gaming performance (100% DX9 & can run most modern games ~30-45fps)
Engineering performance (waiting for Core 2 on the D820)
    Build quality

    Current Computer:
P-M 1.86 GHz (might want a LITTLE more power)
    1 GB RAM
    60 GB HDD @ 5400RPM
GMA900 (crappiest GPU I've ever seen)

Well, 12.1" and 15.4" screens appears to be a pretty large jump from one another. Do you plan on being mobile?

The M1210 will offer better battery life with the smaller screen :p .

as far as the GPU goes, what could they handle right now?...Note: I will never own another Intel GPU again

    This is what I have:
    GTA: VC...this runs a minimum
NWN...sad performance now (want NWN2 too)
HALO (this actually plays on GMA900 on min/med)

    XBOX 360 games:
NFS: MW (thinking about NFS: Carbon)
    Oblivion
