I am not a hardware techie or anything so I didn't play around with it :D but, every time i start it up the screen where it says "Dell BIOS bla bla bla" comes on and then before xp loads it blanks out.. and justs sits there.

so i turn it off and restart it and i get an error message saying that xp did not load properly and this may be due to any SOFTWARE or hardware changes. I have been installing some softwares but they shouldn't be a problem since i have them on my pc too.

there are 5 options that i get to choose from in the error message:
3 are about starting it up in safe mode, then in safe mode with wifi and another one which i forget. Next one is start xp up in the last known good configuration.. now this is the one that usually always works. Last one is start windows xp normally which to date has never worked.

Please help- i havn't upgraded anything and here are my specs if it means anything:

    Dell XPS M1210
    Nvidia GeForce 7400 TC
2.0ghz core 2 duo (forgot intel model number.. t2500?)
    100gb 7200 rpm hdd
    12.1"
    1gb ddr2 667mhz ram
    6 cell battery
    a/v package (webcam, mic, earphones)

Nothing is plugged into it excpet the power cord, my 2 year old mouse from my pc (got it a wirless mouse) and the net cord.

Thats all i can think off.. if you need more info just ask but please help im totally confused

Edit: if you want i can take a pic of the error message.

Can you start the notebook in Safe Mode? If you can, you may be able to delete some of the recent software you may have installed. Programs can be weird, and may affect any aspect of a compute, even if they have been installed on a different computer and work there. Also, may I ask what the BIOS error says?

So, does the notebook boot into Windows if you start it in Safe Mode? IF it does, then you should be able to delete some software, and see if that works. Also, if (or when) you delete the software, try to delete the software which you installed last. That way, if the problem if fixed, then you would have uninstalled the least amount of programs. Take note of which software caused the error, if any.

If you are not familiar with Safe Mode, then yes, I would call the Tech Support. They should be able to help you, and they have more information than myself about your notebook.

Yes, a USB mouse is hardware, but it normally doesn't normally affect start up and things like that. It doesn't normally require a driver or any other software, unless it is a wireless one. Does the notebook work without it plugged in?
