    Hi,

How long your actual 9 and 6 cells batt last for your M1330?

My 9 cell actually lasted only 3hr 40min and it shutdown. I have read some actually can get 5hr. My WLED brightness at 5/8, T7300, and using Segate 160GB 7200rpm, normal surfing with Wifi on (Bluetooth off). Could it be I'm using 7200rpm which is draining the battery or something wrong with the battery? How long your battery can last?

I can get over 5 hours from my 9 cell on m1330.

I get about 5 with wireless on screen at 7/8, T7300 processor. But I have installed the intel Turbo memory thing and I find that teh hard drive basically doesn't spin up at all until I start going though folders on the hard drive which isn't very often. So that could be making a diffrence.

Do you run xp or vista? No issues with the turbo memory?

Just ran a detailed comparison with the Seagate and the SSD and the 9 cell last night. Heres an excerpt of an article I will be submitting today

"For this test to be completely accurate, I copied an old video file, 150Mb in size, to the hard drive. The laptops OS was set in ‘power saver mode’ and the video played full screen and looped. I used the same system, first for the Seagate drive, and then later in comparing the SSD. To add, all the goodies such as Sidebar, Bluetooth, quikset and internet were turned off.

Utilizing the 9 cell battery, the Seagate test yielded a total play time of 4 hours and 3 minutes while the SSD added a further 47 minutes to that result."

This result is actually phenomenal and will put it easily over 5 hrs in normal use.

The article will detail the rest later today or tomorrow.

I actually get about 3 hours with my 6 cell in Vista. However, in XP, that goes down to about 2.5, which I am trying to figure out why...

o, I have T7300, wireless and bluetooth on, screen usually at about 3/8, but i change it up and down, and I have the 8400M GS video card

I have integrated graphics, T7300 and I use a SD card to allow my hard drive to spin down after 3 minutes. At About 60-70% brightness and with wireless off (i.e. taking notes in class using OneNote 2007) I get around 5-6 hours with the 6 cell battery. Watching a two hour DVD in MediaDirect brought my battery down to just over half (~55% left).

You install the Turbo memory yourself or via Dell technician? Where is the memory installed? Can I buy the memory and install myself?

If you ran a search on Intel Turbo Memory you would have found this thread.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=177613

p.s no it will not void your warranty and it is fitted right next to the Intel wifi card on the under side of the laptop. Also a guide is in your manual. The thread above is the best info for ITM.
    ......................................
4 hours on 2/3 brightness wifi on in Vista's power saver mode with bluetooth of with a 6 cell battery. I don't have Aero disabled and nothing else disabled. I also have ITM installed but i tested my battery life when i did not and i have not tested it again since i installed it.

Of course i will get more battery life with lowered brigtness with wifi of and bluetooth of doing word processing. I can see 6 + hours on the clock but i doubt i would get that. I think that i could be looking at around 5 hours.

What i do find interesting is this backlight LED screen it is meant to be a power saver and extend battery life but can this actually be backed up by owners?

I believe you can get 5 hours on the 9 cell and close to 4 on the 6 cell.

If you turn off Vista's indexing and not have any other source of constant Hard disk thrashing, you should get those battery times I mentioned with Wi-Fi and BT on. It is definitely helpful to change the power scheme to power saver, but even on balanced you should do pretty well.

I have seen markedly improved battery life projections from Vista's applet since i turned off indexing.

How does that work? Do you use a hard drive and a SD card? Do you have a SD card plugged in the memory card reader or do you have SD disk?
