Will we see the M1330 with an other graphic-card than the 8400M GS, like the 8400 GT or even better? Or is Dell satisfied with their choice for this model?

Sorry if this has been asked before! :)

Anything higher will most likely cause heat/size issues.

    +1

More powerful cards need to suck more juice and run hotter. That means bigger batteries, bigger power supplies, and larger cases to fit the bigger fans/heatsinks.

8400 is the highest you'll see in that.

So even a stepup to the 8400M GT-card would be to powerful for the M1330? Was the gfx-card in the M1210 ever modified since Dell launched that model?

No. It was always the Go7400.

And the 8400 GS isn't THAT much of a slouch, because the screen res. is only 1200x800, which should run current games at ~medium, and newer games lower. But if you want a gaming laptop, you won't find it in anything less than a 15.4" like the G1s.

Is the 8400GS in the XPS 128mb or 64mb Dedicated?

128MB dedicated. The M1210 had a "256" MB 7400Go, but it was 64MB dedicated, and 192MB TurboCache (i.e. it stole system memory).

Well, specifically, nobody but Dell REALLY knows at this point whether a different chip would impact the M1330 significantly, whether it's a slightly higher clocked version of the GS, or a different microarchitecture (G84?) at a slower clock speed. It's pure conjecture (but based on solid fundamentals and realistic concerns) to suggest that other options won't be available due to power/heat.

Disclaimer: Personally I agree with everyone that the specs won't change, but I doubt anyone here has any hard thermal dissipation figures for any of the nvidia 8xxxM chips.

The fact that Dell never changed the M1210 is IMO more telling of how they handle product SKUs over lifetime. But then again, the 1330 has a heluva lot more buzz around it than the 1210 ever did, so who knows what they may do? I'd personally like to see a dock connector on the bottom and a 1440x1050 screen option, but I'm not holding my breath for either ;)

if there'll be another videocard, I would venture to guess it's gonna be in a 1330 refresh (like 1335 which is being discussed in another thread here)
