I'm about to reorder an M1330, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get the 8400m card as oppose to the Intel integrated graphics. I don't really play games anymore, so by that alone I should be fine with the integrated graphics. I do plan on using the HDMI to connect to the plasma display I have. I believe the HDMI out is present with all M1330. But in all the threads I read regarding the HDMI, it seems that there are some settings to play around with in ntune(or whatever the program that comes with nvidia driver is called now) in order to get the external display to work properly.

My question is will I be able to use HDMI to connect to the external display and have it work properly without the 8400m?

If by "external display" you mean any kind of display, then yes. I am running through HDMI to an LCD monitor with the X3100 and it runs without any hitches.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I read the threads regarding the HDMI out on the M1330 and there seems to be a problem about the screen not fitting on the display/cropping that requires the user to go into nvidia control panel to fix. That's why I was contemplating paying the $150 to get the 8400m.

I think that has to do with TV screens not scaling non-native resolutions properly. People don't always pay attention to what their TV's are capable of before buying. Some TV's only support a maximum resolution of 1024x768 from a computer despite having a native resolution 0f 1280x768 or some other widescreen resolution.
