My M1330 has the T7500 cpu, 2gigs of ram, 8400gs video card. I connected the laptop via hdmi to my sharp lc46d64u. I tried playing a few 1080P trailers and I was disappointed to see that the frame rate was choppy and laggy. I figured the system would be powerful enough to run 1080P videos smoothly. Is there something i'm doing wrong?

720P videos play fine though. I have the latest vista drivers.

Not really, 1080 video is just very demanding, especially Quicktime.

My desktop system often has some problems playing it back and that has a full Core 2 Duo over clocked to 2.8GHz.

You could try another player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ the decoder on that seems to take a little less horse power on some videos. Not quite sure why though.

Quicktime is a terrible codec, basically. iTunes is also too resource intensive for simply playing audio files. They're poorly designed (at least for PC).

Yet another reason I dislike Apple.

You guys were right. I saved the quicktime 1080P trailer of Han**** and played it on VLC and it ran perfectly.
