Wow I'm surprised, I just ordered it Dec 16. I just hope its built w/o flaws (cpu whine, etc)

I was wondering what you guys suggest I should do once I get it and unpack it. I've read all about clean installs of os, but I'm not sure I'll be doing that. tangograndma did a great job helping w/ all this but I would like some other suggestions.

    Thanks a bunch guys

Some people recommend partitioning your hard drive and putting the operating system on one small partition. Also creating a partition for just documents is a life safer when it is time to backup your hard drive.

    Thanks for the tip!

I saw the same corsair thing on newegg [free shipping lol] for around 40$

I don't think It really makes a difference, yet I've been using corsair for years now.

I would just like to address formatting issues/partitioning. Almost everyone suggests it...

I got mine the other day and it has been pretty good, only complaint is the keyboard is a little "wavy" otherwise a very good computer, I need lots of tips as well.

Got mine yesterday from the outlet. I added a 2 gb Corsair Value Select stick from Newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145172 ) and it works fine - bios even reports that dual channel is still enabled with the remaining 512mb stick - don't know if that actually means it is...

I also ended up doing a fresh install of Vista. There wasn't much bloatware on the computer, but I didn't need the Media Direct or Restore partitions and wanted to learn a bit more about Vista.

So far, I quite like the machine. Mine's a base config, but I think it looks great even with the 'fat' ccfl screen (which, at least to me, doesn't look nearly as fat as some of the compare pics I've seen here) and 'crimson red' case. Screen quality is great. Keyboard is a huge improvement over my old 700m, though I have to learn how to use page up/page down again. Battery life is suprisingly good. I've heard some 'whine' when running via AC, but nothing on battery. Only issue is the 'P' on the XPS logo is missing, which Dell is going to fix. One other complaint is that the included power adaptor doesn't work in my other Dell laptop. My old adaptor works with the 1330, but not the other was around, which is strange.
