If you can get THAT for under $2,000, you're golden.

I haven't really checked those out, but that sounds like list it would go for $3,000, and on average (meaning you don't find a smart way to get discounts) you're gonna pay $2,500, but I don't know.

2K or less after discounts. Not worth more. I paid $1550 including taxes for a product Red T8300 including features above.

I live in the United Kingdom and i paid £1541. if i convert that into dollars its around $3081. however in the uk you have to pay vat at 17.5% and laptops are generally more expensive because of supply and demand etc. the t9300 processor just came out today in the uk. do you think i should upgrade any components such as the processor to a t9500 for an additional £300 pounds or $600 is it worth it ?

As of this moment, the T9500 is an additional 80 quid according to the thread I just made about the release mate.

T8300 to T9300 is an £80 upgrade, but going from T9300 to T9500 is another £300

Looking at benchmarks that were published by Notebookcheck.com. There's really not much difference between the T9300 and T9500.

Stay with the T9300. Even the T8300 is a very fast machine. I've underclocked mine to run at 2GHz as I like to have a really cool machine.

Here's the link to the benchmarks:
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Intel-Core-2-Duo-Penryn-CPUs.7876.0.html

I've heard these guys don't do very accurate benchmarking but it's a data point, take with a grain of salt.

Can't you buy the RAM from an outside source? It's very easy to upgrade. Dell charges ridiculous amounts for 4GB of RAM.

At least here in the US newegg sells 4GB of RAM for between $60 and $80.

I bought all of that, minus the LED screen, plus the tv tuner card and gyroscopic remote last night for $2200...

Main reason I didn't get the LED screen was because of the fact it'd take an additional 15 days and I will not be in the united states then and I need it before I leave. :p\

EDIT: Also a router is included in that price, so I only spend $2110 for the laptop... Found out calling a decent rep beats out buying online any day.

    £1,150 max
Last time i looked it was only £30 to upgrade the ram from 3-4GB.

You are paying far to much in my opinion. In a few weeks Dell will start lowering the prices again. If i was you i would get on the phone and try and get a better deal. Although it can be a real pain to have to do this many people have got very good deals by doing just that.

Currencies rise and fall? That doesn't automatically make things cheaper or more expensive. What's your point? Europe has always been a rip-off.

And by the way, the BD is pegged to the USD, isn't it :) ?
