    Hi,

I was finally able to pick up my XPS M1330 this weekend, since it was delivered over 2 weeks ago, but I was off-site doing consulting work.

It's a wonderful machine and coming from the Inspiron 6000 (which is still pretty good and has served me well,) this is the lightest laptop I have ever owned.

Anyway, apart from a slight dent (which seems to be common) on the right side, the laptop has been perfect. However, even on the 1st day, I noticed that when opening or closing the screen (very bright,) i could hear some ting object rolling around.

I still hear the strange tiny object rolling around, but now the screen has started to creak when opening it. Now, my inspiron 6000 is over 2 years old and for the 1st year and a half, I heard no sounds or had any external problems with it. Thus, this doesn't justify the creaking and object rolling on my 1st week of M1330 use (most of the time on my bed, without much movement.)

    Is this a common problem?
Either way, I need to call dell so that they can send over a replacement. When I get the replacement, I'll swap the hard drive so as to not have to reinstall everything. Can onsite repair offer a faster fix?

Anyway, what are the numbers for XPS support and onsite repair?
What information will I need handy?
How do I make sure that I don't receive a refurbished system but a new one?

    Thanks,
    Stan

check out the 1330 box, there's a booklet with all the phone numbers for Dell.

Call your Customer Service Rep and say exactly that and tell them you want a replacement system sent out as it is within 30 days. They will do that. Do not let them send a repair tech out as you have paid good money for a machin that appears to be a lemon. They will send you the replacement.
