I've been reading through the forums and seeing a lot of great prices on XPS laptop configurations and I was wondering how it is that everyone is getting low prices. Is it best to call or configure online? I have configured a 1330 for my girlfriend that we are looking to purchase ASAP and I would like to get a 1530 in the near future. Right now this is what I've configured:
XPS M1330
Intel® Core 2 Duo T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz FSB/3MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition
Flamingo Pink
3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
Slim and Light LED Display with VGA Webcam
Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
250GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive) 8XDVDRW
High Definition Audio 2.0
Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card
Trend Micro Internet Security 15-months
56Whr Lithium Ion Battery (6 cell)
1Yr In-Home Service, Parts + Labor,24x7 Phone Support Add Accidental Damage and LoJack Theft Protection to 1Yr Warr.
Biometric Fingerprint Reader
Built-in Bluetooth capability (2.0 EDR)
With taxes and fees this comes to $1380.32 using a 25% off coupon.
Do you guys think this is a good deal? It seems kind of high to me compared to what I've seen others get on here. We are both students so we could get the student discount but then I can't use the 25% off coupon. Is it possible to get both discounts if you call? or can you haggle the price at all? I always see sales with like $500 off or whatever but they are only certain configurations and I can never change all the options that I would like. Thanks for any input.

Yea it seems kinda high. Try configuring with a higher warranty. Sometimes the price goes down because you get more instant savings.
-
Thanks for responding. I think it comes out a bit higher but I will try it again. Does anyone know about ordering online or over the phone for the best prices?
-
Wait for a good sale, such as 40% off, or a good coupon code. Combine that with a EPP discount and some haggling, you can get a great deal.

If you really want to get a great deal, the Dell outlet is the place to go.
For the same price as that system, I got an extra gig of ram, a dedicated graphics card, a 9 cell battery, and an extra year of complete care.
I don't have a penryn though so that system has got me there.
I have seen people get much better deals from the outlet than I did though. It's worth giving a look. -
I think I will definitely do the outlet for the 1530 when I'm ready, but my girlfriend wants a pink 1330 and there are none in the oulet yet. @ mattocs, thats a hell of a steal for that system. I hope something like that comes around when i'm looking for my 1530.

It's all about timing

yeah I've noticed that timing is a big factor. Can't afford to wait too long on the 1330 though cuz my girlfriends inspiron 600m is falling apart.
