With the new Dell system I am considering (M1330), they offer a 65 and a 130 watt Auto/Air/AC adapter. Of course I would like to save the $60 and the space/weight and get the 65 watt. Have any of you noticed any problems where you felt that the 130watt was needed?
Thanks

Do you need to use your laptop powered by a cigarette lighter-style power outlet or not? Thats the basic question.
Most airlines with newly configured interiors, if they supply laptop power, are supplying it through standard 120V 2-prong receptacles in the seat-backs. And these supplies can be used with the standard 65W Dell PSU.
I guess if you spend a lot of time in the car and want to use your laptop, the adapter could be useful. -
Look at your current Dell PSU and see what it is rated as and buy that one...
My i1520 is a 65W so I'll assume the M1330 is the same... My last laptop, the i5160, used a 130W adaptor and that thing was HUGE. So I you'd know if you needed that honking thing... -
I do need an extra adapter to keep one at home and one in laptop bag. I do charge my laptop in my car often. I guess I could continue using my 12V power inverter. Not a big deal. My main concern was the power rating.
Dell offers the 65 and 135watt for the M1330 and I just wanted to know if there were ANY advantages to an adapter with a higher watt rating (perhaps quicker charges). The standard included adapter is 65 watts. Which is why I am inquiring if anyone who bought an M1330 decided to get a 135watt adapter. -
My dell came with the x3100 and 65w adapter. When I upgraded to the 8600, I got a message on bootup saying the laptop would reduce power consumption because of the small adapter and lose performance.
Also slower charging time.
M1330 Auto/Air/AC adapter. get the 65 or 130watt?
