I'm looking at the dell support list of parts on my M1330 and there's a ton of part numbers that could correspond to the back lid. Does anyone have that number offhand?

    Thanks in advance!

A lot of those part numbers are interchangeable. What color back lid did you want?

I'm curious for the part numbers too as I'd like to get a black, red, blue & white one just to have them. :)

Has anybody taken off a m1530 lid yet?

I suspect it's the same as the m1330.

It is not an "interchangeable" design. You have to pull apart the whole display and transfer both the screen and webcam board to the new lid. Then screw the hinges back on to the base and re-feed all the antenna wires under the keyboard, through the main board, and to the wireless card..

    Khris,

I wasn't implying that the lids were interchangeable, but rather mentioning that Dell uses multiple part numbers for the exact same part. There should be atleast 4 part numbers for each of the colors, and then a bunch of alternative part numbers (for the same 4 colors).

No wonder it took them so bloody long to manufacture the things in the beginning. You'd have thought that the user preferred colour panel would have just clicked into place wouldn't you?

You'd definately spoil someones day if you changed your mind during the build! :)

    Any color would be fine.

I plan on painting one (hunter green) and replacing my current one (black). I'd like to have the part number so that I can get a backup, in case painting goes horribly wrong.

Anyone have the number? Is the part number for the LED back lid the same number as the LCD back lid?

You should be asking of the LED lid part number is the same as the CCFL lid part number........which they aren't as the LED screen is thinner than the CCFL.

Yes it was directed at me and thanks Khris.

I have mine custom painted now, see sig, so don't plan to "swap" lids, mostly just wanted the different ones to put in the computer room. I've taken apart several notebooks over the years, so I know how to do that if needed.
