With the current $699 off deal on the XPS M1330, included are very powerful components, such as an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500. I'll make a quick list:
-Intel Core 2 Duo T7500
-3 GB Memory
-160 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
-NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 128 MB
-Intel Next Gen-Wireless N-mini card
-LED backlit display
I believe that this would make a very strong notebook for me. However, my concern is the battery life that I would get on a single charge from a 6 cell battery, just browsing the internet, using Office or chatting with Google Talk (note that wi-fi would be on and screen set to max brightness). So how long should I expect from the 6 cell? Thanks in advance.

Just grab the 9 cell.. it doesn't cost much. Get this laptop before the deal is off. I know plenty of people who paid $2k for a lower end M1330, and I only paid $1494.20 for a loaded config.
You should get over 3 hours easy on the 9 cell with heavy use. -
Well, the reason I don't want the 9 cell is because it sticks out the back, and I think that looks really...well...ugly.
So I'm still wondering about the 6 cell... -
just get a 6 cell now, and if u find u dont need it just buy a 9 cell, BUT dont buy both
-
But Does Anybody Know An Estimated Length Of Time That I'll Be Able To Get With The 6 Cell???
-
2 hours 15 min
at least 2 hours though, I get around 2.5 with the brightness one notch down from max while web browsing and playing music -
Alright, thanks dude.

I got the laptop on friday and I've just tested it.
I booted up the system at 22.50 and at 01.00 the time left showed 15 min. or so.
I stood almost all the time with brightness at 20-40% (I didnt feel that I needed more), wifi on all the time, messenger all the time typing, webcam 10 or 15 min, installed bioshock and runaway (both from the hard drive) and not much else.
so, with this use I got around 2 hours, 2 hrs 10 min. Maybe without the webcam and the installations I would have reach 2hrs 30 min.
P.D.: Btw, my system is T7250, gforce, 2 gb ram, 160 gb 7200 rpm, led display, wifi abg, 6 cell battery and vista -

Thanks.
Also, how much heat should I expect with my specs, or similiar ones? -
-
-
What about on your lap? Would the heat be uncomfortable then?
-
if you are gaming for an hour on your lap, it might get uncomfortable, but for normal use not at all.
-
I am getting about 2:30 on 6 cell (internet surfing, 5/8 brightness, BT off, Aero off). Although I have a wear level of 12% in the first 6 days which I think is unusually high.
As far as the heat, that is one of my main gripes about the M1330. I think it gets hot on the lap, although I have CCFL screen.
Because of heat issues, screen issue and battery issue, I am exchanging my M1330 with CCFL screen to a new one with LED, hoping it will be cooler with better screen and battery life. -
Ya, the most I'd be doing on my lap would be using Microsoft Word, surfing the internet or chatting with a friend on google talk.
If I were to say, downgrade to a T7250 (2.0ghz) and only 2 GB of memory, would I be able to expect a change in the battery life and heat that is produced? Or would it relatively be the same? -
I'd say it would be pretty much the same, but im not that much of an expert.
-
Maybe 5 min? 10 min?
Heat is almost nonexistent when doing nothing but surfing, etc.
gaming-wise, the heat is still very good, just gets a little bit warm but not hot at all
Hopefully you won't game with the laptop on your lap -
I'm not sure why, but right now I see my current M1330 configuration as some blazing fast, blistering hot, battery eating machine. Hopefully, my fears will be unfounded once I get the computer.
