I got my m1330 recently and it came with the 90W adapter. I spoke to dell customer service online today and here is the conversation:
03/13/2008 07:33:08PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "When you say Power Brick? You mean -- the power adapter?"
03/13/2008 07:33:20PM Me: "yes"
03/13/2008 07:36:00PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "The 90 Watt is the one that comes with the computer."
03/13/2008 07:36:08PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "If you'd like a smaller one, you'll have to purchase it unfortunately."
03/13/2008 07:38:18PM Me: "Are you serious? From what I've been reading online, the M1330 always came with the 65W power adapter."
03/13/2008 07:38:35PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "Our computers come with a 90W."
03/13/2008 07:40:09PM Me: "Well, that's disappointing. I was expecting this notebook to be a portable solution."
03/13/2008 07:40:26PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "I have the 90W and it's completely portable."
03/13/2008 07:40:31PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "I've never had a problem with either one of them."
03/13/2008 07:41:37PM Me: "As for the high pitched whining sound and hard drive clicking, is there a solution to this problem or is it a manufacturing defect?"
03/13/2008 07:42:06PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "Have you contacted Technical Support regarding this?"
03/13/2008 07:42:16PM Agent (CCCS Craig D): "I've heard of no problems regarding these problems."
Customer service is rather disappointing to say the least.

The 90 Watt will charge faster.

Well that's funny. I'd expect Craig to take your cheap shot "I was expecting this notebook to be portable" more professionally (simply apologize for any confusion) instead of replying with an anecdote. As far has he's concerned you received the product as advertised and ordered. At least he didn't reply with something like, "I'm sorry you're having difficulty with reading comprehension. You could have called and had us read your invoice to you prior to confirming your order."
He's right though, you should probably contact Technical support regarding the other issues. Sounds like he's a sales guy. -
"Our computers come with a 90W."
This guy's a muppet, parroting canned answers. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Discount what he says heavily. -
I am surprised that you got shipped a 90w adapter with the m1330. Those with m1530s, do yours ship with the 90w adapter?
Technically you got a higher value product for the price you paid. The 90w adapter is certainly more expensive (even if the difference is marginal) than the 65w adapter. You should call customer service about this. They will probably just comp you a 65w adapter, instead having you do a return/replacement. -
We just got a replacement M1330 with a 65w adapter.

where can i buy a 90 watt power adapter for the M1330? Will it be the same size?
-
The 90 watt adapter is slightly larger. If you want to pick one up, they are on ebay. PA-12 is the 65 watt adapter and PA-10 is the 90 watt adapter. Other wise you can pay more money and get it through dell.

Dell XPS M1330 notebook does not require a 90W adapter. Using a 90W adapter might adversely affect your battery over a prolonged period. Further, lugging around the heavier adapter is a pain.
Dell has sent you that adapter in error. Call/chat with them again and request them to send you the standard 65W adapter (in exchange for the 90W adapter or for free for the inconvenience you faced) or the Dell Slim Auto/Air/AC Adapter (for a discounted price or for free for the inconvenience you faced).
If you are deciding about the slim adapter, you will find my review helpful.
M1330 Comes with 90W adapter now?
